A long time ago when Buick first started making pickups, they had to make a few tweaks to their first generation BOSS line of pickups. The first thing that they did was add two more magnets to the back of the pickup and make sure that it had two extra terminals on both ends of the wire. This helped improve the overall sound of the pickup but the other change was in the way the pickup mounted onto the car.
Before you take a look at the Buick Gnx pickups, you will have to understand what it means when a pickup is mounted to a Buick. Most pickups mount onto the car using screws, brackets, or some type of device that holds it down into place with the use of screws or brackets. If you are not familiar with this, you should ask your local dealer or someone who has done this for Buick before you get started. It may be something as simple as the same device that your car uses to hold the windshield in place and it is a common part of many cars today.
The problem with this was that when the bumper was replaced, the holes that held the bumper in place were drilled and used to install the pickup. If you want your pickup to stay put and function properly, then you have to make sure that the holes are drilled before you attach it to the bumper. In the case of the 2020 gnx, the holes were drilled before the pickup was mounted to the bumper.
Once the holes were drilled, the pickup was mounted on to the bumper and the pickup was then attached to the grille. You can imagine how complicated this can be and that the first time that this was done was somewhat tedious. Buick realized that this was not good enough and they decided to make the pickup a little bit easier by changing the way it mounts and attaches to the bumper.
The pickup that is on the 2020 BOSS for the front end is mounted on to the bumper using brackets instead of the screws that were used for the first generation. This allows the pickup to sit flush against the bumper and gives it a much better look. The problem with this is that there is nothing to prevent it from being damaged if the bumpers are installed incorrectly and if the pickup is moved and hits the bumper while it is being held in place.
You may have noticed that there is an inch of space between the bumper and the pickup but you should be aware that the pickup will still be able to hit the bumper if it is not installed correctly. There is also no provision for the pickup to hit the bumper if you do not put the bumper up correctly and place the bumper incorrectly. When placing the bumper up and down on to the bumper, you have to remember that the pickup should go up and not come down.
